Overview

COMO Castello Del Nero occupies a twelfth-century castle in Tuscany's Chianti wine region, part of a 740-acre estate between Florence and Siena. Renaissance frescoes remain in parts of the building, set against contemporary interiors by Milanese designer Paola Navone: whitewashed walls, terracotta floors and high ceilings. The hotel is roughly 30 minutes by car from Florence's airport and about three hours from Rome's.

Three restaurants operate on the estate: La Torre, which holds a Michelin star in the MICHELIN Guide Italy 2026, the more casual La Taverna, and the al fresco Pavilion, each working with produce sourced from the surrounding region. Wellness is handled by COMO Shambhala Retreat, which includes a 25-metre outdoor pool, five individual treatment suites and two for couples, a thermal suite with sauna, steam room and ice fountain, and dedicated yoga and pilates studios. Guests also have use of a tennis court, a padel court and four marked hiking paths across the estate.

Beyond the castle, the estate includes Podere San Filippo, twelve self-catering apartments of one to three bedrooms, and Villa San Luigi, a restored eighteenth-century farmhouse with five en-suite bedrooms, a private 380-square-metre garden and a 16-metre heated pool. COMO Castello Del Nero has received One MICHELIN Key in both the 2024 and 2025 MICHELIN Guide Italy Key Hotel selection.
