A private island in Thaa Atoll reached by a 60-minute seaplane flight from Malé, with beach and water villas, three restaurants and an overwater spa.
COMO Maalifushi sits in the Thaa Atoll, in the southern Maldives, a 60-minute seaplane flight from Malé. The island is COMO's largest private island resort in the Maldives, surrounded by uninhabited islands and reef systems that have made the atoll known among surfers and divers. Accommodation runs from one-bedroom Beach Villas on the west of the island to two-bedroom Water Villas, several with their own pool and sundeck.
Three restaurants anchor the dining programme. Tai serves Japanese seafood, sushi and sashimi for lunch and dinner by the water. Madi offers all-day dining with beach barbecues, salads and COMO Cuisine dishes, plus three themed nights a week, and takes its name from the Dhivehi word for manta ray. Thila is an open-air bar with a sand floor, a pool and a games room, serving from Madi's menu in a more relaxed setting. COMO Shambhala Kitchen, built around plant-based nutrition and tandoor cooking, is served at Madi and through in-room dining. The COMO Shambhala Retreat has eight overwater treatment rooms, an open-air yoga pavilion, a Finnish sauna, steam room and gym, with daily yoga and fitness classes.
Days on the island are built around the water: guided turtle and reef snorkelling, surfing with Tropicsurf, light tackle and fly fishing within 30 minutes of the resort, and diving across the Thaa Atoll's 33 chronicled sites, with many more channels and reefs still unexplored. Families can book a sleepover on the resort's own uninhabited island, Lavadhoo, while younger guests have their own programme through Play by COMO. The resort holds EarthCheck Silver certification and runs coral restoration work, solar power generation and on-site organic growing as part of its environmental programme.
