Overview
Delaire Graff Estate sits atop the Helshoogte Pass outside Stellenbosch, roughly fifty minutes from Cape Town International Airport. It was created by diamantaire Laurence Graff, who first saw the property in 2003 and now uses it as his South African home. The estate combines a wine farm, three restaurants, a spa and an art collection of more than 400 pieces handpicked from Graff's private holdings, displayed inside and out across the grounds.
Accommodation is spread across six categories, all designed by David Collins Studio. Garden, Luxury and Superior Lodges are one-bedroom units of 70 to 76 square metres, each with its own heated pool and private terrace or deck. Presidential Lodges 1 and 2 are two-bedroom, 130 square metre units with 12 metre heated pools, log fireplaces and views toward Table Mountain or Simonsberg Mountain. The Owner's Villa is Laurence Graff's own retreat: a two-level, four-bedroom house of 660 square metres with a 14 metre heated infinity pool, outdoor living and dining areas, and a private chef. Lodge and villa guests have exclusive use of a central 22 metre heated pool and a light-filled gym.
Dining runs across Delaire Graff Restaurant, led by Head Chef Clinton Jacobs, with a terrace looking over vineyards and olive groves toward Simonsberg Peak and the Banghoek Valley; Hōseki, a Japanese restaurant headed by Virgil Kahn with views toward Table Mountain; and Lorenzo's, an Italian restaurant serving antipasti, wood-fired pizzas and handmade pasta among the estate's gardens. The Wine Lounge, reworked by David Collins Studio, hosts tutored tastings of the estate's wines, including the Laurence Graff Reserve made by winemaker Morné Vrey and viticulturist Kallie Fernhout. The spa has four treatment suites, three with private outdoor courtyards, plus a sauna and steam room, and uses products from Augustinus Bader, Irene Forte and the estate's own Jardin de Delaire line.
