Overview
Ellerman House stands high above the Atlantic in Bantry Bay, at 180 Kloof Road, a short drive from central Cape Town. The property has operated under a single vision since 1988: a historic Edwardian manor house set among indigenous gardens inspired by Kirstenbosch, paired with two contemporary villas built into the granite cliffs below.
The house holds one of South Africa's most significant private art collections, with works by established and contemporary South African artists placed throughout the rooms, corridors and shared spaces. The Wine Gallery brings together rare vintages, well-known labels and smaller producers from across the Cape. Cuisine follows the seasons and draws on local growers and producers. The spa has four treatment rooms, including a dedicated couples suite, offering facials, massages, body treatments and grooming services, along with a relaxation area that includes a sauna, a polar plunge and a sensation shower.
Accommodation in the main house runs from the 30-square-metre Classic House Room to the 102-square-metre Ellerman House Suites, which have separate living and dining areas. Rooms are individually designed with pieces from the house's art collection; some face the Atlantic, others sit within the spa gardens with no sea view. Beyond the house, Villa One and Villa Two stand apart as private residences, each with its own hospitality team, chef and infinity pool. Villa One spans 696 square metres over three or five bedrooms; Villa Two, a three-bedroom villa of 432 square metres, has a private cinema and a social kitchen.
