On a 50-hectare farm in the foothills of the Franschhoek mountains, eleven sanctuaries and suites sit around a converted 17th-century manor house turned bath house.
Sterrekopje occupies a 50-hectare farm in Franschhoek, in the Cape Winelands, with its historic manor house converted into a bath house and herbal apothecary. The property is organised around farm life: a productive garden, a kitchen and a bakery feed the day-to-day rhythm, while a yoga yurt, a soul shed and an atelier for painting, drawing and pottery offer structured alternatives to simply resting. The farm hosts seasonal retreats, including Wise Women, Regenerative, Family and Private retreats, with a writing retreat, Writing: A Creative Act, due to open for bookings.
Accommodation is split into three categories across eleven sanctuaries and suites. The Intimate Sanctuaries sit in the historic Main House, each around 25 to 30 square metres with a private terrace overlooking the gardens, a separate shower and bath tub, and a king size bed made up in a choice of Italian linen or Egyptian cotton. The Abundant Sanctuaries, at roughly 35 to 40 square metres, are found within the Main House or scattered among the farm and gardens, with private terraces and living areas. The Rejuvenating Suites, the largest at approximately 50 to 60 square metres, are set in private positions around the Main House, each with an expansive living room, a spa-like bathroom and a generous private terrace or garden.
The farm was founded by Nicole and Fleur, who describe its way of life as rooted in nature and ancestral practice. Daily life on the property includes morning yoga, a daily harvest, pottery classes and sound bath sessions, alongside the Bath House ritual included with every stay. The farm is at Excelsior Road, Franschhoek, in the Western Cape.
