Overview

Hotel Eden occupies a building raised around 1887 as a set of Roman apartments, converted into a hotel by Francesco Nistelweck and opened in 1889. It was the first hotel in Rome to offer a lift, electricity, heating and running water. The Nistelweck family ran it for close to a century; Dorchester Collection took over in September 2013, and a full restoration led to a 2017 reopening. The address is Via Ludovisi 49, a five-minute walk from the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, with the gardens of Villa Borghese and the Borghese Gallery close by. The Vatican is about a 30-minute drive.

Rooms range from the Classic Room, at 28 to 35 square metres with a king-size bed and marble bathroom, up through Junior Suites, Classic and Prestige Suites, to two-bedroom suites such as the Ludovisi and the Eden Suite, the latter arriving with a bottle of Ruinart on arrival. The Villa Medici Presidential Suite, on the fifth floor, spans 125 square metres with panoramic city views across several balconies. On the top floor, La Terrazza holds a Michelin star under chef Salvatore Bianco, serving dishes built on Roman tradition with contemporary technique, open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday. Il Giardino Ristorante and Il Giardino Bar share the same rooftop garden for more informal meals and cocktails, a space once favoured by Federico Fellini, while La Libreria is a quieter sitting room with a bar for coffee or a late grappa.

The Eden Spa has two private suites and a couple's suite, each with its own steam room and chromotherapy shower, alongside a dedicated nail suite and an RLX Aurasens lounger. Treatments use Valmont and HöbePergh products, and the fitness room, fitted with Technogym equipment, is open around the clock. There is no swimming pool. The hotel has two meeting and event rooms, welcomes up to two small dogs under 7kg per room, and offers free Wi-Fi at 50Mbps throughout. Parking is not on-site; valet parking is arranged in a nearby private garage, subject to availability.
