Overview
Sasakwa Lodge stands on Sasakwa Hill within the 350,000-acre Singita Grumeti Reserve in the Serengeti. Built in the style of an Edwardian manor house, it has a grand entrance, wraparound verandas, silver candelabras and antiques, alongside local artefacts and tribal cushions. The elevated position gives views across the plains below.
The lodge's cottages have en-suite bathrooms, dressing areas, fireplaces and living rooms, with French doors opening onto private verandas. Polished parquet floors, vintage collectables and comfortable furnishings furnish the rooms, and each cottage has its own infinity pool, as does the lodge's private villa. A separate swimming pool sits next to the main house, with loungers looking out over the plains.
Guests can take bush walks, wellness treatments, play tennis, join game drives, visit the boutique and gallery, or take a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti. The lodge also arranges visits to an anti-poaching observation post and to nearby communities. The surrounding reserve is managed in partnership with the non-profit Grumeti Fund, which has worked since 2003 to restore wildlife populations in the area, including a 2019 reintroduction of nine Eastern Black Rhino.
