Six Senses Laamu occupies Olhuveli Island, the only five-star resort on Laamu Atoll in the southern Maldives. Guests arrive by seaplane from Malé, a scenic flight over open water. The property has 94 villas across beachfront, over-water and private pool categories, all built from local, sustainable Maldives materials.
Seven restaurants and bars cover a wide range: Leaf, an adults-only Mediterranean restaurant supplied by the resort's organic garden and neighbouring islands; Zen for Japanese fusion; Longitude for daily breakfast and themed dinners with a South Asia focus; Kaji, a Teppanyaki counter; Sip Sip, a casual all-day spot built into the swimming pool; Chill Bar, set over the house reef; and the Ice & Chocolate Studio, an al fresco parlour with 48 flavours. Altitude, a spun-glass wine cellar holding more than 300 labels, hosts a five-course dinner paired with four wines. The spa has nine treatment nests set among the landscaping and on the beach, along with a rooftop yoga pavilion, a fitness centre, a Juice Bar and programmes built around sleep, yoga, fitness and detox.
The house reef sits close to Chill Bar for snorkelling, and the Yin Yang break draws surfers, with lessons available through Tropicsurf. Other activities include scuba diving with Deep Blue Divers, sunset dolphin cruises by traditional dhoni, turtle safari snorkelling trips, and a private island day out. The resort runs the Maldives Underwater Initiative, a marine conservation programme with the Manta Trust, Blue Marine Foundation and Olive Ridley Project, described on the property's own site as award-winning.
