Overview
Soneva Jani sits in Noonu Atoll, in the Maldives, built around a large lagoon that shapes both the villas and the pace of a stay. Beach Villas sit within the jungle behind the shoreline, Overwater Villas stand on stilts above the lagoon with retractable roofs, and Signature Villas span a fuller footprint for families or groups travelling together. Many villas open directly onto the water with a private pool and a slide that drops straight into the sea, a detail that recurs across several of the resort's larger residences, including Villa 29's 3 Bedroom Island Retreat with Slide at 1,128 square metres.
Children have The Den, a space built around a zipline, a pirate ship and a swim-up mocktail bar. From October 2026, villas will include a private Wellbeing Studio, joining a wellbeing programme that already runs sunrise and sunset yoga, aerial yoga, Thai Tok Sen bodywork and private pranayama sessions, alongside tennis and padel courts. Hosts on the island include a teppanyaki chef, a water sports instructor and an Ayurvedic doctor.
Dining is spread across several named venues. Crab Shack runs long lunches into sunset dinners with seafood and rosé over the lagoon, Tipsy delivers cocktails by tuk tuk, Shades of Green serves a plant-based menu shaped by the gardens, and Irori Grill at Director's Cut gathers guests around a charcoal hearth for Japanese-style cooking. Evenings can end at Cinema Paradiso, an outdoor screen set above the water, and days on the lagoon include guided snorkelling at Medhufaru and, further out, at Kuredu, where turtles and rays are commonly seen.
