Overview
Agra was the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the city still holds three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. The Oberoi Amarvilas stands 600 metres from the Taj Mahal, on Taj East Gate Road, and takes its design from Mughal palace architecture, with terraced lawns, reflection pools, fountains and pavilions. Guests reach the Taj Mahal by private golf buggy from the hotel.
Every room and suite has an unrestricted view of the Taj Mahal. The Kohinoor Suite, 275 square metres in total, positions even the king bed to face the monument, set among marble columns, mirrored walls and a golden domed ceiling. The Luxury Suite, 175 square metres in total, adds a separate living and dining room, an octagonal glass-panelled rain shower and a private sun terrace. Smaller categories include the Deluxe Suite, the Deluxe Suite with Balcony, the Premier Room and the Premier Room with Balcony, all with king or twin beds and a butler on call. Private balcony dinners and dining staged beside the hotel's water features are both available to resident guests.
Dining runs from Bellevue, an all-day restaurant serving international and Indian food from 7am to 10.30pm, to Esphahan, an evening restaurant built around a tandoor and recipes drawn from Mughal royal kitchens, with live traditional music. The Oberoi Spa has a couples' therapy suite with Taj Mahal views, alongside a temperature-controlled 24-metre pool and a gymnasium open around the clock. The hotel was ranked Best Resort in India by Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards for 2026 and was awarded Two Michelin Keys in 2025.
