Hotel · Shanghai, China
A two-tower hotel at Nanjing Road East and Henan Road in Puxi, a five-minute walk from The Bund, with 145 rooms and a 27th-floor Japanese restaurant.
The Shanghai EDITION stands at the northeast corner of Nanjing Road East and Henan Road in Puxi, west of the Huangpu River and a five-minute walk from The Bund. The hotel is built as two separate towers holding 145 guest rooms, with ten levels of public space that include five meeting studios and two forums totalling more than 265 square metres.
Rooms range from Deluxe Rooms through to the more spacious Premium category, including loft layouts and rooms facing the Bund or the Pearl TV Tower. Suites add an open-plan living and dining area, a light-filled bedroom, a walk-in wardrobe and the large angled windows that are a signature of the tower's postmodern design, with views across the historical Bund toward Pudong's skyscrapers. Food and beverage runs across eight named outlets: YONE Restaurant & Bar, a Japanese izakaya-inspired restaurant on the 27th floor built around rice and sake; Punch Room, a reservations-only bar styled on a 19th-century London private club; Roof, an open-air lounge on the 29th floor; Shanghai Tavern, an all-day European brasserie referencing the history of the Shanghai Power Company Building; Electric Circus, a nightclub on level 7; Club Room, a private-club-style space on the 5th floor with a 9-seat bar and screening room; Roof Garden, an English garden with an outdoor cinema and a lawn games area; and Lobby Bar, finished with plaster relief artwork inspired by Shikumen housing.
The spa holds six treatment rooms, a sauna changing area and a relaxation zone. The 24-hour gym on level 7 has an outdoor terrace for tai chi, yoga or cardio, and the pool, enclosed in a conservatory overlooking Nanjing Road, is paired with a hot tub.
