Overview
Velaa Private Island lies in Noonu Atoll, Maldives, made up of one-bedroom villas, two-bedroom houses and four-bedroom residences ranging from 223 square metres to 1,324 square metres. The Nika Private Residence was designed by Patricia Urquiola and the Kuredhi Private Residence by Winch Design. The Romantic Residence, at 598 square metres, is reached by boat only. Every villa has its own pool, and each guest is assigned a personal butler for the length of the stay. The whole island can also be booked as a private buyout.
Dining is spread across six venues. Aragu serves fine dining with live piano music between 7pm and 11pm. Tavaru, set in a tower above the palms, offers teppanyaki cooking and holds the Maldives' largest private wine cellar. Faiy focuses on seasonal, garden-led dishes, and Athiri, staffed by chefs from 14 nations, serves global comfort food through the day. Cru is a Champagne bar looking out to sea, while AVI and the Beach Bar cover drinks by the pool and on the sand.
The spa is built above the lagoon and includes the Maldives' only snow room, along with Cloud 9 and Dream Pod treatments, meditation and yoga sessions, Swiss skin treatments, sauna and steam facilities, and a beauty and hair studio. A golf course is available on the island, and a separate Kids Club runs a programme for younger guests.
